Who we are

THREADWORKS collects as little personal info as we can, and only what we need to run events and keep you in the loop. We're a self-funded community for young Adelaide creatives, run by a small volunteer committee and backed by digital yarn.

This policy covers threadworks.com.au, our feedback forms, our mailing list, and our events. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect and how

• Mailing list sign-up (website): your email address, only if you choose to sign up.

• Feedback forms: your responses. Name and email are optional, so you can leave them blank to stay anonymous. You can also choose whether we contact you about your response.

• Ticket bookings (Humanitix): your name, pronouns, job description, event-specific details and payment details, as set by each event's booking form.

• Event updates opt-in (Humanitix): your first name, last name and email address, only if you tick the box.

• Nametags: your first and last name, plus a job description and/or social handle if the event needs it. These are printed from your booking.

We don't collect anything else about you, and we never buy or sell contact lists.

How we use it

We use your info to run events and tell you about new ones.

• Email address: to send event news and updates, only if you've opted in.

• Feedback: to make our events better. If you've opted in to contact, we may get back to you about what you wrote.

• Booking details: to run the event you've booked, including printing your nametag.

We don't sell, rent or trade your info, and we don't use it for advertising.

Services we use

Two outside services hold most of your info, and their own privacy policies apply.

• Humanitix handles ticketing and payments. Everything you enter when booking stays with Humanitix. We don't copy it anywhere else, and we never see or store your payment details. See the Humanitix privacy policy.

• Mailchimp sends all our marketing emails. If you opt in through our website, a feedback form, or a Humanitix booking, we add your name and email to our Mailchimp list. See the Mailchimp (Intuit) privacy policy.

Mailchimp stores data on servers outside Australia, mainly in the United States. By joining our mailing list, you agree to your name and email being stored there.

Photos and video

We take photos and video at all of our events, but we never name or tag anyone in them. We use this footage on our website, socials and promo material to show what THREADWORKS is about.

If you'd rather not be filmed or photographed, tell our photographer or a committee member on the day. If you spot yourself in something we've posted and want it taken down, email us and we'll remove it.

Your choices

You're in control of what you share and whether we contact you.

• Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off our list straight away, no matter how you originally signed up.

• Feedback forms work without your name or email.

• We'll only contact you about feedback if you opt in.

Keeping it safe, and getting it back

Only the THREADWORKS committee can access our Mailchimp list and feedback responses. Printed nametags are only used at the event itself.

You can ask us at any time to:

• see what personal info we hold about you

• correct anything that's wrong

• delete your info from our records

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your info, tell us first so we can fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes and contact

If we change how we handle your info, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
